Beginning the Process

It is a new day and after getting some rest, I looked around my house and tried to assess just what I was going to do (newsflash: I decided to be lazy today, it’s the weekend and I decided I wanted to spend it with my family not doing much of anything so that is what I gave myself today. AND THAT IS OKAY- something I have to tell myself because I push to be doing soemthing so much I forget to sleep sometimes!)

Anyway, I have figured out what the first step of this personal rennasaince should be: Make a plan! I am taking time to go through the house and make a list of what NEEDS to be done. (example: organize my books, get rid of clutter, clean the house and get it in order)

The next step is a second list: what things do I WANT to do. ( Meditate more often, write, create a cirriculum, spell work, design my personal daily spiritual routine, practice yoga) This list I want to take a little more time with because this is the list that for me will mean the most change. This list holds the things that I have been talking about doing for a while but never seemed to have the time, or if I had time I never had the energy for. This list is really a goal list, a statement about who I want to be, how I want to live my life and what actions/work I will need to put into creating that reality. This is the list with the magic in it.

Once I have my two lists I want to sit with them, contemplate and mull them over. My goal is to create a balance between what NEEDS to be done and what I WANT in my life. I want to find a way to weave these two strands together in the most natural way possible. However, I have realized that in order to do that I need to take a look at my habits. I mean seriously look at how I have spent free time in the past and how I spend it now. If I am honest I have wasted a lot of time. I spend a lot of time playing games on my phone (I hate to admit this but I MUST be honest here, if I am not I am only hurting myself!)

SO dear readers, what are your wants and needs? What things have you been talking about doing and yet not putting any effort behind? Make a list and explore it, sit with it, contemplate and mull over each item. Are there items on your NEED list that maybe aren’t necessary? Is this list missing items that the initial thought process missed? What items on your WANT list can you work into your day?

Right now many of us have a little more free time at home than we would like, so let’s make the most of it! Have you been saying you want to spend more time with your family- do it! Pull out the board games, make a meal and share it together; find a show on Netflix that everyone can get into and watch it together. Enjoy this time with your family close when no one has to go anywhere, it is gift that down the road you will treasure. Yes, the reason for this time is not pleasant, but you can turn it into a positive, and down the road you will have prcious memories of time together that you would have never gotten otherwise.

Have you been saying that you wanted to clean out that closet, get rid of some things in your storage shed? Now would be an AMAZING time to go through it and figure out what stuff no longer serves you, and in some cases you may be able to donate it to someone who is having a difficult time with all of the shut downs (which is a complete bonus- less clutter and you have done some good, helped someone else out and gained yourself some karma points!)

Have you, like me been wanting to work on meditating more? Well take the time find a corner and zone out- see what the inner worlds have to offer. Turn off the television, light a couple of candles and some incense and let yourself do it. It’s not like there are a million places you can go at the moment, so take this time to learn how to be still and silent, learn from your spirit guides and learn to deepen your understanding of yourself.

There are so many things you can spend this time doing while you must stay in your house for the safety of yourself and others that can better you. Now’s your chance!

After making your lists, contemplating each item and refining it, make a commitment to yourself to do at least one thing off each list a day- do something productive, like cleaning ( something I suggest all the time but especially now that you will be in your home more than you won’t) then do something on your want list, something you have felt a yearning to do. – We’ll do this together and see how we come out the other side of this!

  1. To add to your list, make a vision board!! Decorate it any way you want to, but make sure you put it somewhere you will see it all the time. Going to build a new one myself so I can get myself motivated for new actions.
